I. About TUFE
Tianjin, one of China’s four municipalities directly under the Central Government, is located adjacent to Beijing, just a 30-minute journey by high-speed rail. As the largest port city in northern China, Tianjin is also a city of great historical and cultural significance, an advanced manufacturing R&D base, and a financial innovation operation demonstration zone.
Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE), established in 1958, covers an area of nearly 1,400 mu (about 93 hectares) and enrolls over 16,000 full-time students. It offers a multidisciplinary range of programs including literature, law, science, engineering, and art, with economics and management as its core. TUFE serves as a municipal key university in Tianjin and an important base for cultivating senior economic and management talents in north China. The university has three first-level doctoral programs and postdoctoral research stations in applied economics, business administration, and management science and engineering, nine first-level master programs, and 15 professional master programs. TUFE has developed a complete education system for cultivating bachelors, masters, and doctors.
Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (TUFE) has been enrolling international students since 1996. To date, the university has welcomed over 10,000 students from more than 60 countries and regions, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Vietnam, the ROK, the UK, the US, and Gabon, to pursue or further their studies. Its professional international Chinese language instructors all hold certifications in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Many of them have extensive experience at renowned overseas institutions, Confucius Institutes, and Confucius Classrooms, achieving outstanding educational outcomes.
II. Curriculum
Basic Level: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Situational Chinese, Chinese Characters, and Chinese Society and Folk Customs;
Beginner Level: Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese Characters, and Chinese Society and Folk Customs;
Intermediate and Advanced Level: Comprehensive Chinese, Speaking and Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese Reading, Business Chinese, HSK Preparation, and Chinese Culture.
III. Duration
Minimum of one semester, with 20 class hours per week.
IV. Eligibility
1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China who has completed high school, aged 18 to 50, in good health both mentally and physically;
2. Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit the original notarized certificate of guardianship. The guardian shall be a permanent resident of Tianjin.
V. Application Materials
1. A scanned copy of the passport home page (valid ordinary passport);
2. Scanned copies of the diploma and the notarized certificate (graduating students shall provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their current school instead and submit the required materials after admission);
3. Scanned copies of all academic transcripts and the notarized certificate (graduating students shall submit their existing transcripts and provide all transcripts after admission);
4. Certificate under the Chinese Language Proficiency Scales for Speakers of Other Languages;
5. Proof of financial support (bank deposit statement of no less than RMB 30,000 or an equivalent amount in foreign currency);
6. Certificate of No Criminal Record (required for applicants of one-year study programs);
7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (required for applicants of one-year study programs, to be issued by a public hospital. Applicants shall complete the form in Chinese or English and strictly follow the examination items listed. The physical examination result is valid for six months);
8. Other relevant materials (award certificates, published papers, completion certificates, employment verification, etc.).
VI. Application Process
Applicants are required to submit their materials through the TUFE International Student Service System (https://tufe.at0086.cn/student).
The application portal for the spring semester will remain open until December 15 of the preceding year, and that for the autumn semester will remain open until June 15 of the current year.
VII. Admission Procedures
1. Application Review: A comprehensive review of the submitted materials will be conducted;
2. Assessment: Applicants who pass the preliminary review are required to take part in an assessment organized by the university. Detailed arrangements will be announced separately;
3. Admission Notice: Successful candidates will receive an official admission notice from the university.
VIII. Costs
Tuition: RMB 7,000 per semester (including insurance)
Accommodation:
RMB 24 or RMB 36 per day (calculated on an annual basis);
RMB 28 or RMB 42 per day (calculated on a semester basis);
RMB 40 or RMB 60 per day (calculated on a daily basis).
