Prospectus for 2017-2018Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program

BilateralProgram includes a full or partial scholarship established by MOE in accordancewith educational exchange agreements or consensus between Chinese governmentand governments of other countries, institutions, universities or internationalorganizations.

I SupportingCategory

The BilateralProgram supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholarsand senior scholars. Please consult the dispatching authorities of your homecountry for the categories available.

II InstructionLanguage

All scholarshiprecipients must register for Chinese-taught credit courses. Program Search By visitinghttp://www.campuschina.org can help you find the program and university you're interested in.

 

III. Duration

The scholarshipcovers both major study and Chinese language preparatory study.

a. BilateralProgram supports undergraduate programs, master’s programs, doctoral programs,general scholar programs and senior scholar programs. Applicants should consultthe dispatching authorities in their home countries for the programs available.

b. All theundergraduate programs, most graduate programs and most non-degree programs areinstructed in Chinese.

c. Duration ofthe scholarship which covers both major study and Chinese language(preparatory) study, as specified in the Admission Letter, cannot be extendedin general

 

IV. ScholarshipCoverage

The BilateralProgram provides both full scholarships and partial scholarships. Please referto Introduction to CGS—Coverage and Standard for details of each item.

A. Fullscholarship includes

- tuition

- free on-campusdormitory accommodation;

- monthly livingallowance;

- outpatient medical service and Comprehensive Medical Insurance andProtection Scheme for International Students in China;

B. Partial scholarshipincludes one or some items of the full scholarship items.

V. Where toApply

Apply to thedispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country.

VI When toApply

You need toapply between early January and early April. Please consult the dispatchingauthorities for the specific deadline of each year.

 

VII. ApplicationReceiving Agency and Deadline

Applicantsshould apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in their homecountries between January and early April. Please contact the dispatchingauthorities for the specific deadline of each year.

 

VIII. Eligibility

1. Applicantsmust be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, andbe in good health.

2. Therequirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:

be a highschool graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduateprograms;

be abachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;

be amaster’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoralprograms;

be underthe age of 45 and have a high school diploma or higher when applying for the general scholar programs;

be amaster’s degree holder or an associate professoror aboveunder the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs.

IX. ApplicationProcedure

Step 1 - Applyto the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for CGSopportunity;

Step 2 - Applyto your target university for the Pre-admission Letter once recommended by thedispatching authorities as an eligible candidateyou will receive an Award Letter for CGS Candidate;

Step 3-Completethe online application procedure at CGS Information System Visit http://www.campuschina.organd click ApplicationOnline to log in, submit online the completedApplication Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. Youshould consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your homecountry for Instructions of CGS Information System and Agency Number;

Step 4 - Submitall of your application documents to the dispatching authorities of your homecountry before the deadline.

NOTE

Onlyapplications of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will beconsidered. Candidates holding a Pre-admission Letter will be placed in thehost university; those without the Pre-admission Letter should accept CSC’splacement of university.

X. ApplicationDocuments (in duplicate)

1. ApplicationForm for Chinese Government Scholarship written in Chinese or English;

2. Notarizedhighest diploma photocopy;

Prospectivediploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current schoolto prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents inlanguages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chineseor English translations.

3. Academictranscripts writtenin Chinese or English;

Transcripts inlanguages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chineseor English translations.

4. A Study Planor Research Proposal written in Chinese or English;

This should be aminimum of 200 words for undergraduate students, 500 words for non-degreestudents, and 800 words for graduate students.

5. TwoRecommendation Letters written in Chinese or English;

Applicants forthe graduate programs or the senior scholar programs must submit tworecommendation letters signed by a professor or an associate professor.

6. A CD of yourown works onlyrequired for arts students;

Applicants forthe fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include twosketches, two color paintings and two other works.

7. Validdocuments of your legal guardians in China only required for applicants under the age of 18;

8. ForeignerPhysical Examination Form photocopy, writtenin English, only required for applicants planning to stay in China for morethan 6 months, can be downloaded from http://www.campuschina.org; The physical examinationsmust cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, orthe official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant areconsidered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination scheduleas the result is valid for only 6 months.

9. The copy ofPre-admission Letter from designated Chinese university if available;

10. The copy ofHSK Certificate ifavailable.

All documentsshould be bound together on top left corner in the order of 6.1 to 6.10.

You shouldsubmit TWO sets of bound documents.

No applicationdocuments will be returned.

XI Placement& Scholarship Confirmation     

1. Applicationdocuments of recommended candidates from dispatching authorities will beconsidered by CSC for eligibility and qualification. Ineligible or incompleteapplications will not be considered.

2. Qualifiedapplications will be sent to universities for placement. Based on variousfactors, such as the different scholarship funding requirements of everycountry, the host university's teaching capacity, study length and applicants’criteria, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments/changes to thecandidate’s host university, field of study, supporting categories and durationof scholarship. Applications enclosed with the Pre-admission Letter will besent to the universities who issued that Letter for placement confirmation.

3. Afterplacement confirmation by Chinese universities, scholarship Recipients will getChinese government scholarships to study in China with approval by CSC. Eachscholarship recipient will be granted with no more than one scholarship.

4. CSC reviewsthe placement results, approves the List of Scholarship Recipients and sendsthe admission documents to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general before July31st. The Chinese embassy or consulate-general will send the admissiondocuments List ofScholarship Recipients, Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study inChina JW201)) to the dispatchingauthorities or scholarship recipients.

5. Scholarshiprecipients shall not change their host university, field of study, or durationof study unless they give up the grant.

6. Scholarshipwill not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before theregistration deadline.
